MODERATE MORONS

I am working on a post that deals with one of our most pressing issues, health care.  In the meantime, however, I wanted to enjoy a little rant against those in the Republican party who claim our only way to victory is by moving more toward the political center, or even left.  I call them the 'Moderate Morons' because in my opinion, that is exactly what they are: morons.

In 1993, Democrats controlled both Congress and the White House.  Then, in 1994, Republicans took over Congress which was great because it prevented Clinton leftism.  In 2000, Republican George Bush took over the White House.  Republicans had complete control.  What did the Democrats do?  Did they decide that in order to win elections they needed to behave more like George W.?  Absolutely not!  Instead, they were--I hate to say it--smart.  Strategically, that is.  Prominent Democrats, rather than spouting about moving to the Right, decided to move continuously further to the Left.  They were drawing a contrast, and it worked.

Now, we are in the same situation the Democrats were in.  We went from complete control to no control.  Sadly, too many big Republicans (Colin Powell, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and their ilk), instead of working to draw a clear contrast to unpopular, outrageous liberal-progressive policies, rail that we are too far-right for the American people and that we need to move closer to the center.  Such people have been hypnotized by the misguiding media.

Here's what the morons of the Republican party don't understand: Republicans are only unpopular when they behave like liberals or even moderates.  That is why George W. Bush was unpopular: towards the end of his second term, he had a liberal economic policy.  I believe the country owes President Bush, however, for his tough stance against terrorism around the world, and he managed a good economy for most of his presidency.  A better example would be to look at the ruined state of California.  Arnold Schwarzenegger is a disgrace to the Republican party.  He killed a state by behaving like a Democrat.

Moving to the left is the exact opposite of what Republicans need to do.  I don't care how far Left the American people become.  (In reality, they are moving to the Right, if you look at reliable polling data.)  It is an embarrassment to give up one's principles to win elections.  I would rather have an extinct Republican party than two Democrat parties.

I want the Moderate Morons to answer me this one question: WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT IN OUR DEFEATING DEMOCRATS IF WE END UP LEGISLATING AND GOVERNING LIKE THEM ANYWAY?!

AN EMBARRASSING GOVERNMENT

Members of the United States House of Representatives just passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, or cap-and-trade bill, known by those with common sense as the Largest Tax Increase In The History Of The United States Act.  During the campaign, this quote by Barack Obama was released, speaking on cap-and-trade: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."  Yes, coming from the man who belongs to the party who supposedly cares about the little guy.  Political commentator Stan Olshefski called this bill "fairy tale legislation".

I would like to point out what a miserable embarrassment the passing of the bill was in so many ways, besides the fact that it was a job-killer and burden for families all in the name of reversing 'global warming' or 'climate change'.
  • One embarrassment was the Pelosi delays.  This vote was delayed and delayed while Queen B. Pelosi--you can decide for yourself what the B stands for--and her allies ran around the House floor trying to get enough votes to pass the bill.  Voting was scheduled for morning and ended up happening later in the evening.
  • Another outrageous embarrassment was the fact that there was only one copy of the 1,201 page bill that all 435 members of Congress had to share.  Do you think anyone bothered to read it?
  • Democrat Representative Pat Kennedy, who was supposed to be stuck in rehab, was transported to Washington to vote for the bill.
  • My favorite part of the day was when Representative Tom Price asked for a moment of silence dedicated to the millions who would lose their jobs if this bill becomes law.  Queen B. Pelosi turned down that request immediately.
  • Finally, I was stunned to learn that the night before the vote, a three hundred page amendment was added to the bill.  When Representative Joe Barton asked to see the one copy of the bill sitting on the desk to check out this amendment, Representative Markey, a co-sponsor of the bill, would not allow it!
Who reading this is proud of their government?!

This bill passed 219-212, with 218 needed for a victory.  Forty-four Democrats were pressured by their constituents into voting against this catastrophe of a bill.  However, eight rotten Republicans (whose names and office phone numbers I have listed below) detestably gave up their principles and voted in favor of this bill.  Remember, it only passed by seven votes.

However, do not give up hope!  Personally, I believe this bill will die in the Senate.  This bill was very close in the House, and public pressure to do away with this kind of law is rapidly growing.  Keep checking back on this blog to find out what you can do to pressure the Senate to kill this bill.

WE DO NOT APPROVE

Today's post brings both good and bad news.

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 32% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-four percent (34%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. That’s the President’s lowest rating to date and the first time the Presidential Approval Index has fallen below zero for Obama."

I will start with the bad news.  The fact that Obama's Index rating is below zero means that people do not like what he is doing.  Why?  They realize that he has a radical, leftist agenda.  Only a few of us smart people realized this before, and most of America did not.  So the bad news obviously is that Barack Obama's policies are most pernicious.

Here's the good news.  People are finally gaining consciousness!  The 'Glowbama', as Laura Ingraham would say, is starting to dim.  Now we just need to get the clowns making up the 32% who strongly approve of the job Barack Obama is doing to see the daylight.  Sadly, there are those who will not.  Below is a very interesting chart so you can visualize the tracking poll numbers.

AMERICANS DON'T WANT YOU TO EITHER, PRESIDENT OBAMA!

In his latest news conference, Barack Obama, the greatest President since FDR, said, "I don't want to run auto companies."  I can't imagine why he would lie, so I am sure he really doesn't want to run them, but he will because it will make a bigger and more painful government, and he'll have plenty of help from the unions he is rewarding.

Anyway, according to Rasmussen Reports, the most accurate polling company judging by the election, a whopping 80% of Americans want the federal government to sell its stake in General Motors (GM) and Chrysler.  And not just when Obama and his unconstitutional car czar--who, by the way, has never dealt with cars in his life and hasn't graduated from law school yet--want to, but now.

"Eighty percent (80%) of U.S. voters want the government to sell its stake in General Motors and Chrysler as soon as possible.  A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 11% disagree and want the government to retain ownership for a long time.  Support for ending the government ownership is so strong that 64% favor a proposal that would force the government to sell the auto companies within a year. Only 26% are opposed," writes Rasmussen on June 16.

Well, Mr. President, if you truly want to listen to the voters like you promised during the campaign, I think 80% is a pretty convincing number, although we all know you really cannot wait to get your hands on the auto industry.  We can't wait to see your business skills!

TWO ELECTIONS TO WATCH THIS NOVEMBER

While there will be many gubernatorial races next year, there will be two important races to watch this November.  They take place in the states of New Jersey and Virginia on November 3, 2009.

Currently, both New Jersey and Virginia are held by Democrat-socialist governors.  (I call those in the Democratic party Democrat-socialists.)  They are held by unpopular Jon Corzine in New Jersey and Tim Kaine in Virginia.  In New Jersey, Jon Corzine has been caught up in scandal and low approval ratings, but is seeking a second term.  Tim Kaine is not eligible to run in Virginia due to state term limits.

Both Republican candidates have a good shot at winning their governor seats which would be a good start in making way for a Republican majority of gubernatorial seats nationwide.  Of the fifty states, Democrats currently hold twenty-eight governorships while Republicans only hold twenty-two.  (If both Republicans win, it would become a much more even 26:24 ratio.)

According to the latest Rasmussen Reports surveys, Republican New Jersey Gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie has a double-digit lead over corrupt Jon Corzine, 51%-38%.  In Virginia, Republican nominee and Former Attorney General Bob McDonnell has a little ground to make up as he is six points behind Democrat nominee Creigh Deeds, 47%-41%.

Remember, most political analysts believe that national parties are rebuilt at the state level.  If Republicans can take over these two Democrat-held governorships, it will be a good sign!
